Meals on Wheels enhances the quality of life of homebound individuals by
providing nutritious meals, personal contact and related services.

Ways to Volunteer

At Meals on Wheels, volunteers connect with homebound residents of Greenville County, regardless of age or income, by delivering a hot meal to their homes, at no cost to the recipient. We believe the human connection Volunteers bring to the lives of our meal recipients is as nourishing as the food we provide. Volunteering is even good for your health! Click here to view report.

Volunteers do much more than deliver meals – so much more. In fact, 99 percent of our staff is comprised of volunteers. Meals on Wheels volunteers work one day a month, one day a week or more in the following areas:

Meal Delivery 

  • Pick up and deliver meals to homebound neighbors throughout Greenville County, providing a human touch that means so much to the homebound person
  • Meals are picked up Monday – Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at our office on Oregon Street or at one of our drop-off points in Fountain Inn, Simpsonville and Travelers Rest
  • Delivery only takes from one to one and a half hours.
  • A family friendly volunteer opportunity that’s also great for groups!
  • View open routes

Meal Packaging

  • Package meals at our Oregon Street kitchen Monday – Friday from 9:10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Minimum age for this volunteer opportunity is 14.
  • Great group opportunity!

Courier Service

  • Pick up donated food items such as bread, pastries, pet foods, etc. and deliver to Meals on Wheels as needed

Volunteer Greeter

  • Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon
  • Greet incoming volunteers, hand out route sheets and other information, answer questions and assist the receptionist as needed
  • A great way to meet other volunteers!

Office Worker

  • Monday – Friday mornings and afternoons
  • Provide clerical support such as answering phones, entering client data or other computer-related projects
  • A very flexible volunteer opportunity!

Mailings

  • Help with bulk mailings (collate, fold, staple, label, sort, stuff, etc.)
  • A great group opportunity!

Pet Food

  • Help distribute pet food the 2nd & 4th Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
  • Sort and package pet food as needed

Special Events

  • Support our signature events by serving on a committee, securing auction items as well as working the event (set-up, hospitality, tear-down, etc.) view events
