Meals on Wheels recipients are homebound and incapacitated residents of Greenville County, SC who cannot prepare their own hot meals, and have no one else to provide for them. They are delivered one hot meal each day Monday through Friday. Meals are available for short term or long term needs. Meals are available to those who are homebound, living alone, without regard to age, income, race, religion, national origin, sex or handicap.
Recipients must be:
- Residents of Greenville County, SC
(if outside Greenville county, please view list of area meal delivery programs) - Homebound with limited driving (view definition of homebound as PDF)
- Unable to prepare their own hot meal daily – be physically or mentally incapacitated to the point where meal preparation is difficult if not impossible
- Living alone, with someone else that is incapacitated, or with others that are unable to provide a hot meal daily – or is alone during the day and is not able to provide themselves with a meal
Hot meals are delivered by volunteers each day Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and the client must be available during delivery hours to receive the meal. Meals are available for short term or long term needs and are available without regard to age, income, race, religion, national origin, sex or handicap.
Referral Application Process:
- Complete a Meals on Wheels Referral Form – see link above
- Forms must be completed and signed by a referring Physician or Social Worker.
- Completed and signed forms may be faxed or mailed to Meals on Wheels.
- A member of our Client Care Team will contact the potential meal recipient within 10 business days, whenever possible, to determine eligibility by completing an assessment by phone or in person (special circumstances requiring a faster start time can usually be accommodated). Meal delivery will generally begin within 2-3 days after the assessment is completed.
- Meals are provided at no cost; however, we welcome donations.
