Whose life will you change?

Betty

Betty grew up in Greenville and was married to her husband for 47 years before he passed away. She now lives alone with no family nearby and depends on Meals on Wheels for her daily nutrition.

Mary and Dexter

Mary and Dexter have been married for 70 years. Due to their age and multiple health problems, they depend on both hot and frozen meals from Meals on Wheels in order to stay in their home together.

Grace

Grace is 95 years old and lives alone in her home. Her husband and daughter are both deceased, and the bright spot in her days now is a visit from a friendly volunteer.

Helen

Helen is 101 years old and still lives independently thanks to the support of her family, church and Meals on Wheels of Greenville. Daily meals and well-checks allow her to remain in her home.

Norma

Norma volunteered for Meals on Wheels for more than 25 years. After she broke her hip, it became harder for her to get around. Now, we have the privilege of providing a hot, nutritious meal to Norma every weekday.

Grady

Grady and his son have received Meals on Wheels since 2013. When asked about his experience, Grady stated, “My son has mental problems, so I have to look out for him. Since my wife’s gone, it creates a little harder burden on me, which I don’t mind. I’m glad y’all are looking out for me.”

Mable

Mable is 83 years old and has been receiving Meals on Wheels since 2016. Due to her declining health, she depends heavily on her daily meals.

Judy and Howard

Due to declining heart heath, Howard cannot prepare his own meals. Judy used to spend hours puréeing her food because she has difficulty swallowing. Thanks to Meals on Wheels, they can both receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy and remain together.

Sylvia

Sylvia is a former school teacher who spent most of her life caring for her ailing mother. Now, she suffers from blood clots and neuropothy which makes it impossible for her to stand and prepare food for herself.

Mozelle

Mozelle lives alone, with only her dog and cat to keep her company. Meals on Wheels not only delivers a daily meal to Mozelle, but also to her four-legged companions to ensure everyone stays healthy.

DB

A proud Clemson University alumnus and Korean War veteran, aging has made walking difficult for DB. He’s grateful for the meals, but says he is most blessed by the volunteers who visit him every day.

Patricia

Patricia lives in a remote area in Ware Place. Although she has family nearby, they work during the day and she spends her days alone. Patricia treasures the daily visits from her Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Kenneth and Martha

Kenneth and Martha suffer from a number of health problems that make it impossible for them to drive or stand over the stove to cook. The nutrition they receive from a daily, warm lunch is vital to keeping them in their home together.

Frances

Frances and her husband Wilbern met when they were 18 and were married nearly 70 years before Wilbern passed away. Frances now lives alone and limited eye sight makes cooking difficult. Meals on Wheels volunteers provide both nutrition and companionship daily.

Lillian

Lillian worked in the kitchen at Meals on Wheels for almost 20 years. Her mother also worked for Meals on wheels when it first opened. Now, Lillian lives alone and depends on the meals she once prepared.

Charleen

Charleen is a cancer survivor who has had more than her share of health problems. With no family support, Meals on Wheels volunteers are the only people she sees each day. “The volunteers bless me, so I try to be a blessing to them.”

Mary

At 92 years old, Mary lives alone and appreciates both the warm meals she receives as well as the people she’s met at Meals on Wheels over the last 17 years. She’s built relationships with so many of her volunteers—she even invites them to to her birthday parties!

Homer

Homer volunteered with Meals on Wheels for years before his ailing health forced him to stop. Now, he receives a daily meal and looks forward to the visits from his volunteers.
